Girl Bonding

Me and my bestfriend Marnie decided to spend our girl bonding moment in Mall of Asia and try the food served in Tokyo Cafe. The resto is located at the South wing entrance infront of Mann Hann restaurant. The moment we stepped in the restaurant whole staff greeted us with enthusiasm. As we were seated, the server immediately served us water filled with iced.
While waiting for our order drinks came. Iced Cafe Au Lait or simply iced coffee with fresh milk. I like the way they serve it with a separate syrup, it had given a unique classy style. Price PHP 84.00
Starter. Teriyaki Chicken Salad. I enjoy eating this salad. The combined taste of teriyaki sauce and ceasar dressing was really good, slight bitter and sweet. Nice plating, appetizing and colorful. Comment on this, they should have serve it with a thong for tossing and easy pick up transfer on plates. Price PHP 190.00.
After a few minutes next order came, Chicken and cheese roll. Chicken breast filled with mozzarella cheese breaded and deep-fried with potato salad as side dish and a marinara sauce. It's just like a cordon blue without the ham. I find this dish a little blunt and when combined with the marinara sauce their some distinct taste missing. For me it would be better if they served it with mushroom sauce. Price PHP 228.00.
Creamy Ebiko Pasta. Shrimp, karashi ebiko, and creamy pasta sauce. It's just like shrimp alfredo given a different name. The serving is enough for an appetite of two ladies. Price PHP 255.00.

The ambiance of the place is nice. The food price is for class A and B. I was not that satisfied with the taste of the food but its okay. Well thats my opinion I still suggest you visit and try the place yourself. Sorry if the pics were kinda blurry. I'll try to get a better camera next time.

New Seven Wonders of the World is a project that attempts to revive the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World concept with a list of modern wonders. A popularity poll was organized by the private, non-profit New Open World Corporation (NOWC), with winners announced last July 7, 2007 in Lisbon, Portugal.

2007 New Seven Wonders of the World.
1. Chichen Itza from Yucatec Maya: "At the mouth of the well of the Itza" is a large pre-Columbian archaeological site built by the Maya civilization located in the northern center of the Yucatán Peninsula, in the Yucatán state, present-day Mexico.
2. Christ the Redeemer, is a statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.[1] The statue stands 39.6 metres (130 feet) tall, weighs 700 tons, and is located at the peak of the 700-m (2296-foot) Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city.
A symbol of Christianity, the statue has become an icon of Rio and Brazil.

3. The Colosseum or Coliseum, originally the Flavian Amphitheatre (Latin: Amphitheatrum Flavium, Italian Anfiteatro Flavio or Colosseo), is an elliptical amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy, the largest ever built in the Roman Empire. It is one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and engineering.
4. The Great Wall of China literally "The long wall of 10,000 Li" is a series of stone and earthen fortifications in China, built, rebuilt, and maintained between the 5th century BC and the 16th century to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire during the rule of successive dynasties. Several walls, referred to as the Great Wall of China, were built since the 5th century BC.
5. Machu Picchu is a pre-Columbian Inca site located 2,400 meters (7,875 ft) above sea level. It is situated on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru, which is 80 km (50 mi) northwest of Cuzco. Often referred to as "The Lost City of the Incas", Machu Picchu is probably the most familiar symbol of the Inca Empire.
6. Petra is an archaeological site in southwestern Jordan, lying on the slope of Mount Hor[1] in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. It is renowned for its rock-cut architecture.
7. And lastly The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in Agra, India, that was built under Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
The company plans to develop a new list of seven wonders of nature through a similar process, taking nominations through December 31, 2008. And one of the nominee is in our very own country. The Tubbataha Reef.

The Tubbataha Reef is located in the Sulu Sea, 98 nautical miles (181 km) southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, the Philippines. Vivid corals cover more than two-thirds of the area and the waters around the reef are places of refuge for numerous marine lives. The seemingly diverse ecosystem of this sanctuary rivals the Great Barrier Reef – having 300 coral species and 400 fish species.
Tubbataha has become a popular site for seasoned sports divers because of its coral “walls” where the shallow coral reef abruptly ends giving way to great depths. These “walls” are not only wonderful diving spots but they are also wonderful habitats for many colonies of fish. There are giant jacks, hammerhead sharks, barracudas, manta rays, palm-sized moorish idols, parrot fishes, and moral eels living in the sanctuary. Tubbataha is even home to the hawksbill sea turtles which are endangered species.

Tubbataha Reef is nominated as one of the 7 Wonders of Nature in the World, making it the one and only entry of the Philippines to the prestigious search for new world wonders. It is now currently ranked as #29.

World Class Dive Destination - Tubbataha Reef, Palawan

If you are looking for a great places to dive Tubbataha Reef, Palawan is the place to be. This marine sanctuary is located in the Middle Central Sulu Sea, 98 nautical miles southeast of Puerto Princesa City Palawan, the Philippines. It was declared the World Natural Heritage site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on December 1993, it is under protective management by the Department of National Defense (DND). It is under technical supervision by the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) & the Department of Environment & Natural Resources (DENR).

The diving here is considered some of the best in the world. The reef lies 182 km southeast of Puerto Princesa. You will find over one thousand species in the reef; many are already endangered species some of these species are manta rays, lionfish, pawikan or tortoise, clownfish, and sharks. This marine sanctuary is only reachable by live-aboard boats which can be found in Puerto Princesa itself. Despite its inaccessability, the reef is extremely popular with adventurous divers, marine biologist and professional marine photographers. So early booking of a live-aboard vessel is advised to avoid disappointment.

Trips to Tubbataha from mid-March to mid-June are all vessel-based and require planning for a minimum of six weeks prior to departure. To reach the place, take a 70-minute flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa City. From the airport, a shuttle bus takes you to the dive boat. Boat ride from Puerto Princesa City takes approximately 12 hours.

The Amazing 3D Sidewalk Art Photos

I find this guy amazing... This is Julian Beever an English chalk artist who has been creating trompe-l'oeil ("trick the eye") chalk drawings on pavement surfaces since the mid-1990s. His works are created using a projection called anamorphosis, and create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle.

Besides pavement art, Beever also paints murals and replicas of the works of masters and oil paintings, and creates collages. He works as a freelance performance artist and creates murals for companies. He has worked in the UK, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Spain, the U.S., Australia and Brazil.

Below are some of his great Anamorphic illusions drawn in different locations.

Most of his pictures can take a whole day to create and by the next day they are often gone, vanished under the feet of passing pedestrians. It is a very evanescent art form, one that lives mostly through photographs taken at the time.

Traffic Jam

Monday rush hour. Its the first day of the week and I got stuck in heavy traffic. Darn! I'm late. Traffic flow is bumper to bumper. Everybody's in a hurry and no one wants to give way. Undisciplined bus and jeepney drivers stop in the middle of the road to load or unload passangers. We've passed by a number of road constructions.

When I finally reached the office I heard employees complaining with the same traffic I went through and everybody was pissed and disappointed. After a few chats I opened my email and there's this one email that caught my attention and made me realized to be more thankful on the traffic I encounter everyday.

Can you imagine yourself living in a place where there's nobody around you? What if one morning you woke up and suddenly all the people in the world is gone. Or you got stranded or lost into an unknown place. What's the first thing you're gonna do? Where will you go? Do you think you can survive? Just thinking about it... scares me. If this happens to me, I might have a heart attack. It will be hard to live life without anybody to talk to dont you think?

Remember the movie "Cast Away". For 1500 days Chuck (portrayed by Tom Hunks) lived alone into an unknown island and after sometime of his crash he got a volleyball and made it as his companion named Wilson. It plays as a mute, infinitely patient, non-living listener for Chuck but never the less this help him survive his stay in the island. And when finally Chuck had the chance to escape the Island, Wilson was drifted away from the raft. Chuck cries after failing to save Wilson and throws away his oars, seemingly losing the will to live after losing his only "friend".

Another most recent movie "I am Legend", Will Smith was left as the last healthy human in New York City and possibly the entire world to survive from the virus outbreak. All the people in the city died and most became monsters and his only friend left was "Sam" (a german sheperd). They were attacked by infected dogs and lost her. The next night he recklessly attacked the monsters not caring if he would survive it or not.

On both movies we saw how the 2 companions helped them survive their everyday life and made us see how important having a friend in our life. Both Sam and Wilson gave the two main character the strength and hope to live and when they lost them, their will to survive was lost too.

Open Water Dive - Galera Vacation Oct '07

Day 1
Thurs Oct 11, 2007. Me and my friends arrived at the beach resort at around 10am tiring but it was an exciting adventure. We left Manila at 4:30am after 2 hours of road trip to Batangas Pier, we just missed the boat ride to Balatayan Mindoro for us not to waste time we decided to take the boat trip to Calapan instead. It took us another 2 hours to get to the port and we still have to drive our way through the rocky road to get to Palangan where the resort is located. Never the less we had taken great photos along the way.

When we arrived we had lunch and a short nap. Our friend Mike who's a rescue diver encouraged us to try scuba diving. He rented a pool were he trained us the basics of diving. One by one Mike and another dive master 'Joy' taught us the proper way wearing dive gears, hand signs like OK, Up, Down etc, proper diving position, how to remove water in our mask while under water and so on and so forth. On my first dive attempt I had difficulty on breathing through the regulator and got really scared. Water would always enter my mask and I can't see. They told me to practice breathing only thru my mouth and not thru my nose so that water will not get in my mask. When I get the hang of it I did great under the pool.
Now we go for the real thing. Im the one at the right.

Day 2
Fri Oct 12, 2007. After breakfast we had a quick stroll at the beach.
My first dive. Dive master Joy guided me all through out my first dive. Observing and making sure I get the hang of it.

We dive to 2 different locations.

Day 3
Sat Oct 13, 2007. The whole day we went diving. This time 'Joy' the dive master will be diving a few distance away from me. He'll be just on a look out for any trouble I may encounter. He believes I can now dive on my own but he assures me that he'll still be at reach.
Getting ready to dive.

Excited at the same time nervous I dive under the open water. There were a couple of time I had difficulty on equalizing and sometimes panic. I try my best to make myself feel comfortable until I get the hang of it. I was so fascinated and happy to see the colorful corals and different kind of fishes swimming around it. I was so attracted by the cute colorful fishes and tried to catch them not knowing Joy was swimming after me. After 30 mins underwater Im beginning to feel my throats' getting really dry. I started coughing and like vomiting. I got scared and about to panic I looked around for Joy but he was too far away from me, so what I did I pray and ask for God to give me presence of mind, strength and courage to overcome the feelings im having. After that all my fear is gone and was replaced with excitement and joy again. I had a really great time swimming with the fishes. I feel like one of them. When we got back to the boat Mike and Joy said I swim too fast and can't catch up with me and end up teasing me "torpedo".

Day 4
Sat Oct 14, 2007. We went back to Manila Channel dive spot for the another diving experience this time we'll try to dive deeper. This day I was able to dive 30 feet deep my deepest dive so far hehehe. Hey come on I'm just an amatuer next time I'll try 60 feet ;o).

Our last night. We decided to have our dinner at White Beach resort and had a few drinks at the Dolphinbay beachfront resort just beside the resort we stayed in.

A day at the office...

Friday, Nov. 30, 2007. Today is my first day of the week from my rest day (Wed-Thurs). My body and mind still on the state of relaxation hoping for an extended restday. Long sleep, dvd movie marathon, playing games with my niece and nephews, going to the malls, chatting with friends... ***Snap out of it girl... Focus! There's work to be done! Work? Well there isn't really much work to be done, not as much as we had before. Actually, its getting really boring and lonely here in the office. Last week we were been told a bad news. The company is not earning and we need to cut down the work force. Half of the company employee was forced to take an unpaid vacation leave "temporarily" (as they say). Everybody was shocked and surprise especially now that Christmas time is near.

When the news was brought up to me I had mixed emotions. Surprised for the sudden decision, disappointed for why this should happen on Christmas season, mad for why can't the management give us a clear explanation on how did they came up with the selection on who's to stay and who's to leave. Relief for being one of the lucky few to stay and work. Sad, for some of my friends and good agents was also selected to leave and I can't do anything about it.

When I talked to my boss she was crying so hard. Even she didn't knew about the suspension and the management didn't even asked her to give inputs on the selections. She felt what the employees have gone through. One by one she saw how the agents cleared their lockers and left. After they've all left, all she hear was sound of the aircon behind her, the squick of every chair that moves and the silence of the surrounding. There were only 2 or 3 people left. I was teary eyes when I told the news to my family. They've given me moral support and assure me that everythings going to be okay.

Im glad my family was that supportive. At times like these they are my pillars of strength. And that strength kept me on my toes. Depressive as it may seem, a spark of hope still lights up my heart. To keep me up and going... as I head towards work everyday.

A friend once told me. In everything that had or will happen to us, God have a reason and better plans for us. For whatever it is... I don't know yet but I trust him. I just pray that everything will be okay.

Two of my good friends here in the office introduced me on this blog world. Sometimes I see them all busy uploading and updating something on their blog. Before I don't understand why people would waste time on such none sense. But when I get to read some of their blog sites, its actually interesting and informative. It's like I'm reading a short story, stories and events that happen to people I personally know. Sometimes I can even relate myself to their past or current situations. Through this, people can express what they really feel.

Some people are not good in verbally expressing their emotions and this is the best way to do it... thru writing. And I'm one of those people. Hmm actually I'm not good in writing but what I like about this is that I can keep a personal journal or diary for myself or anything I find interesting and I can share it to people. And maybe I can inspire some in my own simple way. Well I hope I can continuously log my most important events that will happen in my life.
